Nimmo’s 10th-Inning Heroics End Rangers’ Road Nightmare in Anaheim

ANAHEIM — Forget the beach vibes. The Rangers came to Anaheim looking for a win, and they left with a much-needed dose of relief.

Brandon Nimmo singled home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, Jake Burger added a two-run single, and Texas took down the Angels 4-1 on Monday night to snap a five-game road losing streak.

The Rangers have now won five of their last six overall and sit just half a game back of AL West-leading Houston. Suddenly, that road misery feels like ancient history.

How Texas broke it open

The 10th started with automatic runner Nicky Lopez on second. Wyatt Langford walked, then Corey Seager singled to load the bases. After Ezequiel Duran popped out, the Angels turned to Blake Weiman — but Nimmo had other plans. His line drive to right scored Lopez, and Burger followed with a two-run single to put the game out of reach.

Nimmo and Elias Díaz each finished with two hits and an RBI. Díaz's RBI single in the fourth scored Duran and tied the game at 1-1.

Arms did the job

Peyton Gray (6-0) cruised through a 1-2-3 ninth for the win. Jacob Latz then locked down the 10th for his 23rd save.

Texas starter MacKenzie Gore was dialed in, striking out nine over 5 1/3 innings while allowing four hits and two walks. Not bad for a guy who just returned from paternity leave after his fiancée, Alex, gave birth to their first child.

Trout can't save this one

Mike Trout did Mike Trout things, crushing a 418-foot solo homer in the first — his 20th of the season. He finished 1-for-2 with three walks, one intentional. But the Halos couldn't get him home again after that.

Angels starter Reid Detmers was solid — one run, six strikeouts and just three hits over six innings — but the bullpen couldn't keep the game tied into the night.

Angels right fielder Wade Meckler deserves a shoutout, too. He robbed Corey Seager of a home run to end the seventh and keep it 1-all.
