The lights at Yankee Stadium are on, and this isn't just another Tuesday night. The New York Yankees (66-52) are welcoming the Seattle Mariners (56-63) for a three-game series that smells like a must-win for one side and a statement start for the other. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EDT, and this is the fourth time these clubs have squared off this season.

New York has been a different animal at home—29-26—and when they get rolling with eight or more hits, it's basically game over: they're 42-13 in those games. The Mariners? They've been a mess on the road at 23-34 and are coming in ice cold, having lost seven of ten while getting outscored by 26 runs.

Pitching Matchup

Bryan Woo gets the ball for Seattle, bringing an 8-8 record and a 4.31 ERA, with 127 strikeouts to his name. He's got a tidy 1.11 WHIP, which means he'll give his team a chance—if the offense actually shows up.

On the other side, Ryan Weathers takes the mound for New York. At 5-7 with a 3.79 ERA and 132 Ks, he's gotten a bit unlucky. But the Yankees only need him to keep the M's quiet long enough for the bats to wake up.

An 8-run over/under and a Yankees line around -131 says Vegas expects some fireworks—or at least for the Bronx Bombers to control the tempo. Seattle still owns the fifth-best team ERA in the AL at 3.79, so the arms can keep them in games.

Who's Hot

For the Yankees, Luis Garcia has been the anchor, carrying a .279 average with 24 homers and 5 triples. Young Jasson Dominguez has looked alive lately, going 9-for-41 with a homer and two RBIs in his last ten games.

Seattle's Randy Arozarena is always a spark plug—14 homers, 24 doubles, and a triple—but he needs help. Cole Young has been the rare bright spot, hitting 13-for-40 with a double, a triple, and a homer in his last ten.

Injury Woes

Both teams are banged up. The Yankees are missing Aaron Judge (rib), Cody Bellinger (leg), Giancarlo Stanton (leg), Carlos Rodon (elbow), and Clarke Schmidt (elbow). That's a lot of firepower and depth on the shelf.

Seattle isn't in the clear either. J.P. Crawford (wrist), Luke Raley (elbow), Matt Brash (lat), and Cole Wilcox (oblique) are all down, with several others on the 60-day IL. Depth will be tested.

This series is all about which team can push through the pain and execute. The Yankees look like the sharper squad, but the Mariners have the arms to steal one—or two—if the bats come alive. Buckle up.
