MIAMI — The bad vibes are back in South Beach. The Miami Marlins have placed first baseman/outfielder Kyle Stowers on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, the club announced Tuesday.

It's the kind of injury that makes you cringe. Stowers pulled up in the fifth inning of Sunday's 12-3 blowout win over the Angels after ripping a two-run single. He grimaced while rounding first — never a good sign — and was immediately lifted for pinch runner Leo Jimenez. Manager Clayton McCullough said more testing was coming. Now we know the answer: he's shelved.

Same story, new leg

This isn't Stowers' first hamstring rodeo in 2026. He already missed the opening weeks of the season with a right hamstring strain. Now it's the left one biting him. Add it to a growing list of physical speed bumps for a guy who looked like a genuine breakout star last year.

In 2025, Stowers had a career-best campaign: 115 hits, 25 bombs, 73 RBIs in 117 games en route to his first All-Star nod. A left oblique strain cut his season short, but the talent was undeniable. This year, he's slashing .242 with a .789 OPS and 16 home runs — still a serious threat when healthy.

Next man up

To fill the roster gap, the Marlins recalled infielder Graham Pauley from Triple-A Jacksonville. Miami kicks off a six-game homestand Tuesday with a three-game set against the Pirates. The lineup's got some reshuffling to do, but the clock is ticking on Stowers' return.

Hamstring strains are tricky. Ten days is the minimum, but this is a guy who's already dealt with one on the other side. The Marlins will hope it's a quick bounce-back, not another lingering saga.

Stay tuned, Marlins fans. This one's far from over.
