Webb Deals, Gilbert Goes Boom: Giants Smash Rockies 7-1 in a Blowout for the Ages

SAN FRANCISCO -- If you blinked, you missed it. The Giants didn't just beat the Rockies on Saturday — they put on a clinic, rolling to a 7-1 thrashing that had Oracle Park buzzing from the first pitch to the final out.

Webb Was Absolutely Dealing

Logan Webb (8-7) was pure filth on the mound. Six innings, four hits, one run, seven strikeouts, zero walks. Oh, and he etched his name into the history books by notching his 1,100th career strikeout when he froze Zac Veen on a four-seamer in the second. Pure. Dominance.

Even when a comebacker tagged him on the right shoulder in the fifth, Webb shrugged it off like it was nothing. The medical staff checked him, but the righty stayed in and kept dealing before handing the ball to Carson Seymour after the sixth.

Gilbert Goes Off

Drew Gilbert was the spark plug the Giants needed. He kicked things off in the third with a solo shot that just cleared the right-field wall — a no-doubter in our hearts. Then, in a chaotic fourth inning, he delivered the knockout blow with a two-run single that sent Rockies starter Michael Lorenzen packing.

The fourth inning was an absolute circus. Turner Hill, making his MLB debut, got the rally rolling with a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. From there, it was a free-for-all: Rafael Devers ripped a ground-rule double down the left-field line to drive in a run, Gilbert scored on a wild pitch, and Bryce Eldridge chipped in another RBI. Just like that, it was 7-1 and the game was effectively over.

Rockies Roll Over

Colorado's three-game winning streak? Gone. They managed just five hits all game, with Cole Carrigg driving in their only run in the third. Lorenzen (3-11) was chased after just 3 2/3 innings, allowing six earned runs on four hits and three walks. Ouch.

Jung Hoo Lee did his part too, adding two hits and a walk as the Giants racked up 10+ hits for the fifth time this season.
