Langford's 421-Foot Rocket Seals Comeback as Rangers End the Bleeding

WEST SACRAMENTO — The Texas Rangers were done messing around. After dropping four straight, they stormed into Saturday night needing a spark — and Wyatt Langford provided the damn fireworks.

Langford crushed a go-ahead, two-run homer in the sixth inning, powering the Rangers to a 5-3 win over the Athletics and finally ending that ugly losing streak.

Comeback No. 22

This wasn’t a cakewalk. Texas trailed early after A's rookie Henry Bolte went deep in the second inning with a three-run shot that survived a replay review — the ball scraped the outside of the foul pole before being ruled fair. For a second, it looked like the skid might hit five.

But the Rangers clawed back. Nicky Lopez singled in a run in the fifth. Corey Seager added an RBI single in the sixth. Then, on the very next pitch, Langford launched a 421-footer to left-center, handing Texas a lead it would never surrender.

Jarred Kelenic iced things in the ninth with a pinch-hit RBI, and the bullpen did the rest — three relievers combined for 3 1/3 hitless innings. Jacob Latz slammed the door over two frames for his 24th save.

Mackenzie Gore gutted through 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits to pick up his seventh win. On the other side, J.T. Ginn took the loss after surrendering four runs in six innings, striking out seven.

Bolte finished 3-for-5 with a homer and a double — his sixth three-hit game of the season — but it wasn’t enough to spoil Texas’ night.
