PHOENIX — The Suns are about to make the Valley of the Sun a whole lot brighter. With the 2027 NBA All-Star Game heading to town, the team is rolling out a jaw-dropping exterior LED display at Mortgage Matchup Center that will stretch 226 feet wide and stand 41 feet tall. That's not just big — it's the only transparent display of its size in any NBA or WNBA arena. Boom.

The multimillion-dollar upgrade is set to go live in September, just in time to get everyone hyped for February's All-Star festivities. But Suns and Mercury CEO Josh Bartelstein wants you to know: this isn't just a shiny toy for one weekend. He sees it as a permanent centerpiece for downtown Phoenix, a place where fans can catch highlights, check out upcoming games, or gather for road-game watch parties under the desert sky.

"It's something that (owner) Mat (Ishbia) pushes us on every year — what's the big thing to improve the fan experience?" Bartelstein said. "We don't take for granted that we get 17,000 fans every night, so we want to create memories that will last a lifetime."

That fan loyalty is no joke. The Suns are riding a 209-game sellout streak that dates back to 2021, covering both regular season and postseason games. This is a franchise that knows how to pack the house — and now they're making sure the outside of the building matches the electricity inside.

All-Star territory

Phoenix is no stranger to hosting the league's brightest stars. The 2027 All-Star Game will be the fourth time the city has hosted, and the first since 2009. The WNBA All-Star Game came to Phoenix in 2024, and owner Mat Ishbia made a massive statement that weekend by unveiling a $100 million practice facility dedicated solely to the Mercury. Clearly, he doesn't do small gestures.

Now the focus shifts to making this All-Star experience unforgettable. Bartelstein made it clear that the pressure is on to deliver something special.

"Mat has tasked us with making it the best ever," he said. "The best ever is in all the details. For every fan that comes in town, all the players, the different teams, we care about every detail. You're going to see that once the All-Star Game comes here in February."

"Obviously, things like the video board will make a statement when you walk in. And then we'll have a lot of other things along the way that separate us and help the league grow."
