Premier League and EFL clubs are locked in for another chaotic transfer window — and this time, the World Cup just made everything even more insane. With stars spread across the U.S., Mexico and Canada, sporting directors are sweating harder than ever to get business done.

When did the window open?

Mark June 15 on the calendar. That's when the Premier League and EFL officially opened the floodgates for summer transfers. Deals could be lined up before that, but only became official from that date. Arsenal's Piero Hincapié, for example, spent last season on loan with a permanent move possibly baked in from last summer's agreement.

When is Deadline Day?

Circle Tuesday, Sept. 1. The window slams shut at 11 p.m. BST — a later cutoff than the 7 p.m. finishes we saw the previous two summers. The late deadline was originally introduced to give football staff a more normal work pattern, but this year? Expect a late night.

Can clubs still lose players after the window?

English clubs might be done, but Europe's not all on the same schedule. Spain's LaLiga shuts at 10:59 p.m. on Sept. 1. Italy's Serie A closes at 7 p.m. the same day. Germany's Bundesliga and France's Ligue 1 close even earlier, at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 — meaning they can't bring in new faces after that, but they can still lose players to leagues still open.

MLS and the Dutch Eredivisie stay open until Sept. 2. Turkey keeps going until Sept. 4. And Saudi Arabia? The Pro League window stays open until Oct. 12. So yes, the exits might not stop just because England's door is shut.

What about the Women's Super League?

The WSL window opens June 18 and closes Sept. 3. Different dates, same chaos.

Key 2026-27 dates to know

The World Cup ran from June 11 to July 19, swallowing up plenty of Premier League stars. The Premier League fixtures dropped June 19, with EFL fixtures following June 25. The EFL season kicks off Aug. 14, but the Carabao Cup's first round starts even earlier, Aug. 7. The new Premier League season begins Aug. 21 — a week later than last year, giving players extra recovery time after the World Cup. It all wraps up May 30, 2027, one week before the 2027 Champions League final. The EFL's season has no confirmed end date yet.
