The Belgian midfielder had to issue a full-blown apology on Instagram after his comments about leaving Aston Villa for Manchester United went down like a lead balloon in the Midlands.

During Manchester United's preseason tour in Ireland, Tielemans tried to play peacemaker by thanking Villa for getting him "back to my best level." Then he undid all that goodwill in one sentence:

"There are clubs above Villa and Manchester United is one of them."
