The Bell Toll Is Here: Miami's Rookie Playmaker Cleared for Practice Debut
The waiting game is officially over in Miami Gardens. The Dolphins activated rookie wide receiver Chris Bell from the active/non-football injury list Monday, clearing the runway for the third-round pick to finally make his practice debut.
Bell, the 94th overall pick, was once projected as a late first-rounder before tearing his ACL in December. The Dolphins saw the value, scooped him up, and then hit the patience button. Since spring practices, Bell has been grinding with trainers on the side while the rest of the squad ran routes. Now? The real work starts.
Miami has made it crystal clear they're not rushing this. They want Bell at 100 percent before unleashing him, knowing full well that a fully healthy Bell could turn this offense into something special.
Here's the exciting part: if Bell returns to full form, the Dolphins could have a serious young tag team at receiver. Fellow rookie Caleb Douglas has been one of the standout stars of training camp and even started the preseason opener against Washington. Add Bell to that mix, and suddenly Miami's future is looking very explosive.
Bell's college numbers at Louisville back up the hype—151 catches, 2,166 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns in four seasons. He put the league on notice in an upset win over the Hurricanes last October, torching them for 136 yards and two scores on nine grabs.
Now he's cleared. Now the clock starts ticking. The only question left is how fast this kid can remind everyone why he was a first-round talent.
