Quarterback drafting ain't what it used to be. You want dual-threat monsters who torch defenses with their legs and sling it with precision? Obviously. But last season proved the old-school pocket passers can still eat. Matthew Stafford finished QB3 while rushing for one (1) measly yard. Dak Prescott threw for 4,500+ and Jared Goff barely ran at all. Translation: there's more than one path to fantasy glory.

The secret to not screwing up your draft? Tiers. They keep you from reaching, they tell you when to pounce, and they stop you from panicking when the run on QBs starts. Here's the 2026 breakdown, six tiers deep.

Tier 1: High-End QB1s — The Elite Difference Makers

Josh Allen, Bills — Still the alpha. Led all QBs with 21.4 fantasy points per game in 2025, scored 14 rushing TDs. The arm, the legs, the red zone dominance. No debate.

Lamar Jackson, Ravens — Injury-shortened 2025 (13 games, 16.5 PPG). But healthy Lamar with new playcaller Declan Doyle? Elite rushing ability plus rhythm throws. Buy the bounce-back.

Joe Burrow, Bengals — Availability risk is real (missed at least 7 games in 2 of 3 seasons), but when he plays, he erupts. 21.9 PPG and 43 TDs in 2024, with Chase and Higgins still running routes. Worth the risk.

Drake Maye, Patriots — Major upgrade alert: A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs join the fold. Maye averaged 20.7 PPG last season (second-most) and rushed for 450 yards. The breakout is loading.

Tier 2: Midtier QB1s — High-Upside Starters

Jayden Daniels, Commanders — Only 7 games in 2025 due to injury, but his 2024 tape (20.9 PPG, 891 rushing yards, 6 rush TDs) says top-3 ceiling. If healthy, watch out.

Caleb Williams, Bears — I'm higher than most. Ben Johnson's offense unlocked him: 18.1 PPG, eight games with 20+ points. Year 2 development? Top-five finish is on the table.

Jalen Hurts, Eagles — New coordinator Sean Mannion brings a West Coast/spread hybrid. A.J. Brown is gone, so DeVonta Smith becomes the man. But Hurts still feasts near the goal line—37 rushing TDs in his last three seasons. Always relevant.

Dak Prescott, Cowboys — Pure pocket production: 4,555 yards (third-most) and 30 TDs last year. With CeeDee, Pickens, and Ferguson in that pass game, Dak keeps slinging.

Tier 3: Low-End QB1s — Steady Fires

Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars — Second-half monster in Liam Coen's offense: 24.4 PPG from Weeks 11-18, including two 30+ point outbursts. Add 9 rushing TDs and red zone carries. That's a weekly starter.

Jaxson Dart, Giants — Rookie run game: 20+ fantasy points in 7 of 12 starts, 487 rushing yards, 9 ground scores. New coaching could unlock more through the air. High ceiling.

Justin Herbert, Chargers — Steady 18 PPG, but will Mike McDaniel unlock more? Run-heavy approach might limit volume, but Herbert's arm talent can't be ignored. Potential breakout waiting.

Brock Purdy, 49ers — Kyle Shanahan's schemed-up pass game plus Purdy's mobility = high floor. Niners QB averaged 19.7 PPG in 9 games last season. A reliable QB1 if you wait.

Tier 4: High-End QB2s — Depth with Upside

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs — Coming back from ACL, but remember the production: 20.4 PPG (fourth-most) with Andy Reid calling plays. Even with receiver questions, Mahomes is Mahomes.

Kyler Murray, Vikings — Named starter and now gets Kevin O'Connell's QB-friendly system with Justin Jefferson as his top target. Plus, Kyler can still run (400+ rush yards in five of seven seasons). Big upside.

Bo Nix, Broncos — Returning from playoff ankle injury, but 17.9 PPG and five games with 40+ rushing yards. New playcaller Davis Webb plus Jaylen Waddle added. Solid QB2 with spikes.

Matthew Stafford, Rams — Led league in passing yards (4,707) and TDs (46) last year. No rushing upside, but the floor is a QB1 week. Regression possible, but production remains.

Jared Goff, Lions — The ultimate safe pick. Consistent 18 PPG in a high-powered offense. Not flashy, but reliable.

Tier 5: Midrange & Back-End QB2s — Value/Streamers

Tyler Shough, Saints — Sleeper alert: QB4 from Weeks 13-18 as a rookie in Kellen Moore's offense. The second-half surge is real.

Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers — Down year (16.0 PPG) but averaged 21.5 in 2024. Aggressive thrower with sneaky rushing chops (760 yards over past two seasons). Rebound candidate.

C.J. Stroud, Texans — Better O-line and run game should open up the pass attack. More opportunities could mean more points.

Jordan Love, Packers — Streaming upside if you need a spot starter.

Daniel Jones, Colts — Back from Achilles, averaged 17.4 PPG in Indy's offense built for his traits. Worth monitoring.

Malik Willis, Dolphins — Dual-threat ability keeps him on the radar, but receiver room questions remain. Watch how Miami shakes out.

Sam Darnold, Seahawks — Big-week potential (four games of 20+ points last season). Boom/bust QB2.

Cam Ward, Titans — Rookie wideout Carnell Tate and Wan'Dale Robinson are upgrades. Year 2 jump? New coaching could spark it.

Tier 6: Superflex QB3s & Deep Depth

Bryce Young, Panthers — Five starts with 17+ points last season. There's life here.

Geno Smith, Jets — Stability for a passing game featuring Garrett Wilson. Solid depth.

Aaron Rodgers, Steelers — Reunion with Mike McCarthy adds intrigue.

Deshaun Watson & Shedeur Sanders, Browns — Cleveland's QB battle continues into preseason. Monitor.

Tua Tagovailoa, Falcons — Expected to start as the No. 1 in Atlanta.

Kirk Cousins & Fernando Mendoza, Raiders — Keep eyes on Mendoza if he gets the nod. Could be a late-round steal.

There you have it. Six tiers, one glorious quarterback flowchart. Target your guys, don't reach, and let the board come to you. Draft season is here—go get your QB.
