VON TO THE STAR: Cowboys Strike Big With Miller on 1-Year Deal, Source Says

The Dallas Cowboys are making noise. Future Hall of Fame edge rusher Von Miller is expected to sign a one-year deal with the team, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Texas homecoming is almost here.

Miller attended DeSoto (Texas) High School before heading to Texas A&M, and now he returns home in his 15th NFL season. He has more sacks (138.5) than any other active player. This offseason, he posted a photo of himself in a Cowboys uniform. He knew something we didn't.

A pass-rush room that just got scarier

At 37, Miller won't be the every-down wrecking ball he once was, but the Cowboys don't need that. They need him to be a factor in a rotation featuring Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku, first-round pick Malachi Lawrence, plus Sam Williams, James Houston and Marist Liufau.

And there's no question Miller can still get home. Last season with Washington, he posted nine sacks, his highest mark since 2021, when he had 9.5 between Denver and the Rams.

Hall of Fame resume, mentor mentality

The numbers are absurd. A first-round pick in 2011, Miller has eight Pro Bowls, seven All-Pro selections, DROY honors, two Super Bowl rings and a Super Bowl 50 MVP. He spent three seasons in Buffalo, with a torn ACL disrupting two of them. Now he's aiming for one more ride.

Jerry Jones hinted at adding a difference-maker. Weeks after giving Quinnen Williams a three-year, $105.9 million extension, the Cowboys are adding Miller. New DC Christian Parker coached Miller in Denver, and Dallas believes he can still make plays.

Miller once leaned on Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware. Now he can do the same for Dallas' young pass rushers. This signing is a flex, and the NFC East just got a warning.
